MamaSays works because mothers can be honest here. Honesty needs safety, and safety needs a few shared rules. These are them. They are part of our Terms of Service.

Say the true thing

This is a place for what you actually feel, not what you are supposed to feel. "I don't like being a mother today." "I miss who I was." "I'm scared I'm doing it wrong." All of it belongs here. Other mothers feel it too.

Stay anonymous, keep others anonymous

Don't share your name, your location, your child's name, your partner's name, photos, phone numbers or anything that could identify a real person. Not yours, not anyone else's. If a post could be traced back to a specific family, it doesn't belong here.

Meet honesty with kindness

When someone says the hard thing, she has already been brave. Reply the way you'd want to be replied to at 3am. You can disagree. You cannot shame, lecture, mock or pile on.

Things we remove

This is not a crisis service

If you are in danger, or thinking about hurting yourself or someone else, please reach out to real help right now. Germany: 112 or Telefonseelsorge 0800 111 0 111. United Kingdom: 999 or Samaritans 116 123. United States: 911 or call/text 988. Anywhere else: findahelpline.com. We'd rather you leave the app and call than stay here alone with it.

Report, block, let go

Every post and reply has a report option. Use it when something breaks these rules, and use "Someone may be in danger" if a post worries you for the mother who wrote it; every report reaches a human and is normally looked at within 24 hours. You can also block any mother so her words don't appear for you again. You never need to explain either choice. If you believe content is illegal, you can also tell us by email at hello@mamasaysapp.com.

And remember: everything here disappears in 24 hours. Including the thing you wish you hadn't read.

What happens if rules are broken

We remove the content. For clear or repeated violations we end the account. Because accounts are anonymous, we usually can't warn you first. When we remove your content or end your account, the app tells you on your next open which rule was concerned and why. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@mamasaysapp.com within six months and include your account ID (Profile → Legal → "Your account ID"), otherwise we cannot find the account. We look at every complaint ourselves, and you can also turn to a court or an out-of-court dispute body under the EU Digital Services Act.

Thank you for keeping this place what it is.
